Gwadar East Bay Expressway is scheduled for completion by December 2020. This is another infrastructure development after Gwadar International Airport that is considered essential for the uplift of Gwadar. Both of these projects are under-construction with rapid pace and all eyes are looking forward towards there completion. Development on Gwadar East Bay Expressway is almost 46% done.
Parliamentary Secretary for Planning Development and Reform Kanwal Shauzab briefed the National Assembly that out of total $51 billion allocated for CPEC projects, 13 projects have been completed with the estimated cost of around 11 billion dollars, whereas another 13 projects worth $21 billion are underway. Moreover, an additional $21 billion-dollar worth projects are in pipeline.
NDRC Delegation to Visit Pakistan to Deliberate on ML-1 Project – CPEC Update
Delegation of NDRC (National Development and Reforms Commission) is expected to visit Pakistan in April 2020 to examine development of underway ML-1 project. Earlier in November 2019, Vice Chairman National Development & Reform Commission (NDRC) Ning Jizhe visited Pakistan along with a huge delegation for participation in the 9th JCC Meeting. During his visit, Vice Chairman NDRC also Inaugurated the 300 MW Coal Power Plant.
On this expected visit, main focus of the NDRC visit will be cooperation in Social Sector Infrastructure Development and ML-1. The financing committee on ML-1 is deciding the financial terms and conditions of ML-1 railway project, would also make recommendations.
China has completed several energy and infrastructure projects during last five years under CPEC umbrella and now both countries are about to enter a new phase of cooperation with focus on the execution of social sector infrastructure projects, SEZ and ML-1.
