Ministry of Maritime Affairs to Initiate Shipping Training for Locals of Gwadar – Latest News

Gwadar is grabbing government’s attention since Gwadar Port has achieved milestones initiating its trade journey. Recently Ministry of Maritime Affairs announced to kickoff training programs for the local shipping agents of Gwadar and Balochistan to enhance their professional skills.

Government to Start Training Programs for Shipping Agents of Gwadar – Latest Update

On Thursday January 30, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi informed about the initiation of training programs for shipping agents of Balochistan and Gwadar.

He was talking to Senate Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs in a meeting held at Parliament. While speaking on the public petition regarding protection of local service providers at Gwadar Port, he said that government would always prefer locals of Gwadar and people of Balochistan would be given priority.

Minister Zaidi further said that youth training in maritime affairs is essential adding that he would talk with the government of Balochistan to initiate shipping training programs for the locals of Gwadar.

Efforts underway to Fully Functionalize Gwadar Port Creating Employments

Chairman Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) informed the committee that efforts are underway to fully functionalize Gwadar Port which would create more job employments for the locals. He said that GPA believed in equal opportunity and performance and would continue its efforts to prefer local service providers.

Since government has decided Uplifting Living Standards of Locals of Gwadar, distribution of solar panels among deserving people is planned. In this regard survey is also underway to make it more transparent.

The committee was also informed the start of Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute at Gwadar. The project is fully funded by China and its ground breaking was held recently. The committee was also briefed regarding the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) planned by the ministry of Maritime Affairs for the financial year 2020-21.
